I assume everyone wonders where I've been. I can imagine you glaring at me, but I know it's my own conscience that's blaming me.
I'm not going to lie to you. I've become a very productive student. Me, of all people, who can hardly concentrate in class is enjoying my studies. That's a big step for me.
I've been preoccupied but I've had fun. I can sense my development both as a mangaka and artist.
I know the truth behind this, it's because I get to draw 24/7, haha.
And I'm so flipping eager to show you my new stuff. So get ready! Our first big assignment
was to make comics for Save the Children. The entire class used child-friendly comics to explain the Convention on the Rights of the Child.
Unfortunately, I don't have any photos and I don't have the magazine with me (I'm at my parents' place). I'll come back and edit this journal page on Sunday. Our second big assignment
was to make comic strips for Sydsvenskan (the leading newspaper in southern Sweden and the Öresund region). We made 10 comic strips each.
I struggled a lot with this. We were limited by 4 panels and as a story-teller it was hell to come up with ideas. I succeeded in the end, thankfully.
And I developed two news OCs, Tristan(Apricot) and Collin(Aqua green). Our third big assignment
was the 24-hour comic, where you create a complete comic on 24 pages in 24 hours straight.
I didn't feel very well during the last four hours. Every time I looked at the logo on my ASUS computer, I saw that logo everywhere. It got printed in my vision or something.
It was almost like being drunk, or not almost, I felt literally drunk. We giggled and were super silly. It was actually a fun experience but I felt like crap the three following days.
However, I'm happy with the concept that I came up with. I'm going to reuse it, and I'm planning to make into a coloured comic similar to NUMBER01. Our fourth big assignment
was horror comics! It was super exciting since I love horror. The main focus was to develop a reliable dramaturgy.
This was when I made Spidey Tidy which I recently uploaded on Tapastic. I have arachnophobia myself so I thought it would be a safe element to use.
The comic is also entirely made in black and white. The "gray" areas are cross hatching. It took a lot of time but it gave this rough look that I hoped for.Our fifth big assignment
was MANGA! We're 25 in our class and only 3 of us draw manga-inspired comics, and we got totally exhilarated about this.
I decided to focus on Shounen manga, and oh boy, I learned a lot. I draw manga all the time of course (except for the comic strips) but this was the time to get that little extra feedback that one need.
We were introduced to screentones as well. Clever printing stuff that I tell you.
I also came up with even more OCs, Cucco and Jill. I'm soon going to work on their story. This was just an outcast to try out the characters. Our sixth and current big assignment
is a personal project, and I decided to make a remake of Sunflower Morning. My talented teachers and classmates have given me lots advantageous feedback.
Thanks to their help I now have the knowledge and courage to go on with the story. You can read more about remake announcement here
Well, that's about it I guess. I could tell you a lot more but I'll save it for later. Thank you for reading this ridiculously long journal page.
I love you, and stay awesome
